Radical MMA is on 29th Street on Manhattan’s West Side. Owned and operated by Rene Dreifuss, a Karate, Judo, and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu black belt. Rene trained in Shotokan Karate under Toyotaro Miyazaki in Queens and eventually moved to Japan to study Judo at the Kodokan. Unfortunately, a car accident left him severely injured and forced him to move back to New York. He got into Jiu Jitsu and MMA after recovering. He speaks Japanese and has a Master’s Degree in Asian Studies ( I have an undergraduate degree in the same subject.). Radical MMA teaches classes in Combat-style Jiu Jitsu, Judo, Wrestling, and Shoot Boxing. Rene also hosts The Martial Culture Podcast.

マンハッタンのチェルシーでラジカルMMAはコンバット柔術、柔道、レスリング、シュートボクシングを教えてるジムです。道場長は柔道、ブラジリアン柔術、空手有段者レネ・ヅライファス先生です。レネ先生は国際松濤会空手道連盟開祖宮崎先生の元弟子です。９０年代にレネ先生は講道館で柔道をやりました。レネ先生はアジア文化学に修士を持って日本語がペラペラです。

Sunrise Karate is in South Ozone Park,Queens. They practice Kenkojuku style Shotokan Karate and teach both adults and children. Sensei Jeffrey Weber is a student of Toyotaro Miyazaki Sensei and has been training since the 1970s.

Located in the Throgs Neck section of the Bronx, Bronx Shotojuku Karate-Do. Edwin Concepcion Sensei is the head instructor and is a direct student of Kai Leung Shihan in Queens. Both Bronx Shotojuku and Kai Leung’s dojo have roots in the teachings of Toyotaro Miyazaki and the Kenkojuku style of Shotokan.

Notes/コメント：Founded in 1982 by Shihan Kai Leung, a top student of Toyotaro Miyazaki Sensei, in Astoria, Queens. The dojo teaches Shotokan Karate, with roots in the Kenkojuku version of Shotokan. Shihan Leung is a founding member of the International Shotokai Karatedo Federation. The dojo is just steps away from the Steinway Street subway station.
